Asterisks PBX
What is Asterisk PBX?
Asterisk is complete PBX (Private Branch Exchange), software-implemented, open-code based system. Asterisk runs on Linux OS and provides all the features of an office telephone exchange, as well as additional features. Unlike classic exchanges, Asterix also supports Voice Over IP ability, that turns it into a powerful tool , allowing the organization that uses it to save costs in phone communication.

In its current version, Asterisk provides Voice-Mail services (including Directories), conference calls, IVR (Interactive Voice Response), the ability to manage call queues and more..
It has built-in support for Voice Over IP technology, based on Skinny connection, H323, SIP, MGCP, and of course, IAX.
Asterisk is able to work in Voice Over IP configuration without additional hardware. By adding hardware, Astersk can be connected to analog phones (FXS interfaces), analog phone lines (FXO interfaces) and digital phone lines.
