Mekashron Business
Mekashron

Tucows Competitive Analysis and Review By Stacy Reed
System Requirements – Mekashron requires 120 MB of hard drive space and can be installed on a computer with a Pentium 233 MHz or better with at least 64 MB of RAM, though 256 MB is recommended. It can be installed on a Windows 2000, Windows XP or Windows Server operating system. You recommend using a Conexant 56k Speakerphone modem.
Install/Uninstall Mechanism – The installer first asks the user to select the language to use during installation, and then it allows the user to choose the destination path. It asks the user to select the components they wish to install and the options included are Mekashron Business and MySQL. Both are checked by default for the Master install, but for the Client install, MySQL does not have to be included. The program installs without error. Users can choose whether or not they would like to create shortcuts for all users. They can also choose not to create a folder in the Start menu. Additionally, the installer asks if they would like to create a desktop icon. The installer immediately opens the login screen with instructions that the user should not change the login information the first time. MySQL must be installed, configured and running or the user will get login errors.
The uninstaller does not allow the user to make repairs before they decide to uninstall the program. The user does not need to restart their computer in order to remove hidden files or DLLs. The uninstaller does not remove all files and folders from the directory they were installed to. Once uninstallation is complete, the user is asked to submit feedback through an online form. This is an excellent way to find ways in which you can improve your software to better suit the needs of your users.
Interface – Mekashron has a clean, intuitive interface in which the user can quickly find and access the programs features as long as the window is maximized. The window is allowed to resize too small so that some of the buttons and features cannot be viewed. The Entities List, Telemarketing List and Messages Box each have their own tab and corresponding buttons and fields appear in the window. It is very simple to change the interface language, which is perfect for instances in which the program will be shared or accessed remotely between multiple employees.
Ease-of-Use and Learning curve – Although Mekashron Business is richly infused with so many features, the interface has been designed so well that the user will not feel overwhelmed. It would not take long for new users to familiarize themselves with this program. Most will be able to learn how to use it in a matter of minutes, not hours. The program automatically saves all of the information stored in the database so information will not be lost when the program is shut down. It is possible to exit out of the program at any point. Keyboard shortcuts offer added ease-of-use and the help files provide instructions that are easy to follow.
Audience Appeal and Suitability – Mekashron Business is aimed toward a market of end users in both small and large businesses. Because of its versatility, intuitive interface, and numerous capabilities the program will surely appeal to many. The help files have been written to match the interest level and knowledge of the intended audience. Every office could benefit from this software, but those that will benefit most will probably be in the telemarketing and sales industries.
Help Files – The help files are accessible through the program. They are a series of animated tutorials that can be understood by users of various levels of expertise. The content is presented in a logical and intuitive manner and it is current as well as accurate.
Technical Support – Contact information can be found in the help files and online in the form of a phone number, fax number, e-mail address and mailing address. When the reviewer sent an online technical support request, someone from your support team responded in a matter of hours and all correspondence was genuinely helpful. It is clear that your company understands the importance of providing good customer support, even to non-paying customers. Keep up the good work!
